Small Mouth Bass and Large Mouth Bass Spawning trials and tribulations

On May 3rd, I was able to convince my neighbor to go fishing with me at one of our local lakes. I had only been there a couple of times and usually struggle to catch more than a couple of fish. We started really shallow with visibility to about 10 feet and noticed circle rock formations underwater and knew it was small mouth spawning activities. I got visibility on some that were mainly guarding the area, but none camping directly on them. I started throwing some blade baits, jigs, tubes and drop-shot all with no luck. The intent was to anger them into lipping the bait and moving it away from their bed, but none of that seemed to work. All struck out, but I was able to get them on the Ned EWG with green pumpkin trick worm (Wacky and traditional Texas style). I Ended up with a total of 9 Small Mouth, which was the best I had done on that lake. The temperature was in the upper fifties, and they were between 5 and 10 feet.
